snippysnacks I really love how the facts about sequoias are juxtaposed against the thoughts of worry and self doubt. It really mimics the stream of consciousness that's going on in the anxious mind. The way the music slowly rises in intensity as well gives it a sense of urgency. Just a great and creative track.

about

assemblage writing::

This song emerged as an experiment in lyrical and musical collage and is accompanied by a similarly assembled virtual road trip video.

The lyrics run like a stream of consciousness on two tracks: a relentless list of facts about sequoias is interspersed between an internal monologue of confused love.
Acoustic and electronic elements create a subtle tension between organic and inorganic sound: vocals shift from natural to robotic, guitar drowns in the beat.

The project mimics the mind, as it desperately clings to senseless information in order to avoid feeling.

lyrics

redwoods
i'm feeling so confused
they have the thickest bark on earth
i can't figure out
why you would tell me all those things
they're resistant to disease
i can't believe
these big trees come from small seeds and
how selfish
i needed love
